Sting to Premier New “57th & 9th” Album at KCSN VIP Concert at VPAC...

Music icon Sting will premier new songs from his forthcoming album, 57th & 9th, at a private KCSN VIP Live Session on Aug. 31 at the Valley Performing Arts Center on the campus of California State University, Northridge.

Sting, a founding member of The Police along with Stewart Copeland and CSUN alumnus Andy Summers, is one of the most successful artists in recorded music history. A celebrated musician, actor, author and composer, Sting is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police. He is also a Kennedy Center honoree, 16-time Grammy Award winner and has sold more than 100 million records.

Sting described his new album: “It’s rockier than anything I’ve done in a while. This record is a sort of omnibus of everything that I do, but the flagship seems to be this energetic thing. For me, the most important element in all music is surprise.”

A small VIP audience of KCSN 88.5 FM fans will get the rare opportunity to preview the music when Sting plays material from the new album, as well as favorites from the past, during the invite-only KCSN Live Session. For the next week, listeners can tune in to KCSN for cues on how to win tickets. Listeners can also try for a chance to see the small, once-in-a-lifetime gig by entering a special online contest at kcsn.org.

“In five short years, the VPAC stage has seen some of the world’s most legendary artists of every genre and style,” said Thor Steingraber, executive director of the Valley Performing Arts Center. “It is known for its outstanding acoustics and the warm embrace by one of the most beautiful auditoriums in the country. As our reputation grows, we’re excited to increase our partnership with KCSN in bringing Sting to the VPAC stage, just months after another legend and fellow member of The Police performed there, drummer Stewart Copeland.”
